    គួរ, គួរ​តែ; ដោយ​ប្រថុយ : បើ​មិន​ដល់​ថ្លៃ​មិន​លក់​ទេ, សូវ​យក​ទៅ​ផ្ទះ​វិញ​ជា​ជាង ។
    - មិន​សូវ​ឆ្ងាញ់ មិន​ឆ្ងាញ់​ប៉ុន្មាន, ដែល​ឆ្ងាញ់​តិច ។ ព. សុ. សូវ​ស្លាប់​ទៅ​គាប់ រស​ធម៌​កុំ​បី​បង់ ស្លាប់​ក៏​ស្លាប់​ចុះ​កុំ​ឲ្យ​តែ​ដាច់​សីល ឬ​ស្លាប់​ទៅ​ស្រួល​ជាង​រស់​នៅ កុំ​តែ​លះ​បង់​សុចរិត​ធម៌។

    Eg. បើមិន​បានថ្លៃប៉ុណ្ណឹង​ សូវទុកជាជាង: If you get that price, it would be better to hold on to it.

    1. ពុំសូវ [pum sǝv] : without (having to)
      Eg. ... ដោះស្រាយ​បញ្ហាជីវភាពដោយខ្លួនឯង ពុំសូវពឹងផ្អែក លើប្រជាជនកសិករពេក ...។: to solve living problems by ourselves without depending on the peasants.
    2. មិនសូវ ... ទេ : not very ..., hardly, not completely
    3. មិនសូវ [mɨn sǝv] : not really / not very (+ ADJECTIVE); not too much (+ VERB)
      Eg. ផ្លែឈើនេះមិនសូវ​ល្អទេ: This fruit is not very good.
    4. លែងសូវហ៊ាន [lɛɛŋ sǝv hien] : to no longer dare do something, give up doing something
    5. សូវទៅសូវនៅ [sǝv tɨv~toh sǝv nɨv] : to hesitate
    6. សូវ ... កុំឲ្យ ... : better ... than ..., (would) rather ... than ...
      Eg. សូវស្តួចកុំឲ្យដាច់: It's better to have a little than nothing at all.
    7. សូវកុំ [sǝv kom] : It would be better not to
      Eg. បើឲ្យអ្វីគេ​ត្រូវឲ្យសម បើមិនសមសូវកុំឲ្យ: If someone gives something; it should be an appropriate amount; if it's not it would be better not to give it.
